Baxters Poem

You may have already seen this poem.  My husband wrote it just days after the accident and I submitted it to TriPawds, and I know they reposted it.

My poor husband beat himself up about taking him out off leash that night.  And I know he saw the impact, a sight he says he’ll never be free from.

About Baxter poem:
It wasn’t your fault, Dadda
It was me who wanted to play
With my bestest dog friend Boomer
In the worstest, bestest way
It wasn’t your fault, Dadda
I was only having fun
I can’t be leashed up all my life
I have to play and run
It wasn’t your fault, Dadda
you saw me running free
And running strong and running fast
How simple life can be
It wasn’t your fault, Dadda
How could you have known?
That a car would come and bite me
And break up all my bones
But you scooped me up and saved me
And you hugged and held me tight
And I knew it at that moment
I was gonna be alright
You took me to the doctors
They fixed my mouth and then
They put me back into your arms
And you took me home again
I know I have to go back
And they’re gonna take my leg
But I want you to believe me
And you don’t like me to beg
It wasn’t your fault, Dadda!!
And I think that you’ll be awed
When you see me love you twice as much
Even when I’m just 3 pawed

  2. Aww, so sorry for your pain. It’s no one’s fault – a dog being a dog and a Dada wanting his dog to have fun. I hope you and Baxter heal quickly from this. Hugs to all.
